Relief Education Fund Kenya (REF-Kenya) is not-for-profit non-governmental organization that works with internally displaced people (IDPs), local communities, youth, women and various stakeholders in Kenya and the Horn of Africa to empower communities, cross-border sensitization, rebuild health systems, provide shelter and provide clean water and sanitation services hence improve their economic system and livelihoods.
REF-Kenya seeks to do away with the vicious cycle of poverty by empowering a particular generation. The long term goal of the organization is therefore to attain an empowered, peaceful and prosperous population.
To be a leader in promoting the development of young people and communities by mobilizing resources to enable them achieve their full potential locally and internationally.
Our mission is to mobilize resources to support education programmes and general livelihoods of vulnerable children locally and internationally.
In order to achieve what is in our vision statement, we focus on three strategic priorities
Expanding our reach by creating both existing and growing programs
Through staff development and education, and ensuring financial sustainability and partnering with organizations whom we have shared missions and aspirations to implement our projects by leveraging on the synergy generated.
We seek to get the right donors, well-wishers and government agencies on board to aid in the fundraising and implementation of the various projects together with us.
To advocate for gender equality, access to quality education in our areas of jurisdiction
To alleviate poverty and disease through provision of water, sanitation and healthcare
To incorporate mentorship programs that will be a key factor in the development of the children being supported and many more.
To advocate for and support peace programs in Kenya and the Horn of Africa as an initiative that can enhance and promote peace.
To mobilize financial and learning resources that will be directed to the support of the children.
To eradicate FGM (Female Genital Mutilation) through empowering the girl child through education.
Eradication of early marriages for a girl child.
